Indoor air pollution can be a problem where you least expect it and in the places where you may have thought have been the safest including your home. Studies have shown that the air in our homes can be even more polluted than the outdoor air.

Many people and families spend up to 90% of their time indoors. Therefore being concerned about our indoor air quality is important to our health. People who are inside a lot may be at greater risk of developing health problems or have health problems made worse by indoor air pollutants. These people include infants, young children, people with allergies, the elderly, and those who are chronically ill.

Inadequate ventilation can increase indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources and by not carrying indoor air pollutants out of the home. High temperature and humidity levels can also increase concentrations of some pollutants.

Heating and AC systems can also exacerbate indoor air quality problems. The system may be contaminated because of mold in duct lining or bacteria on coil or filters and the system may spread these pollutants throughout the home.The duct system can also spread pollutants from one portion of the home to another. Regular maintenance and duct sealing can help minimize these problems.
